Draken skallra / Dragon rattle

Systersonen har nu hunnit bli 4 månader och börjar intressera sig för att hålla i saker och givetvis ska allt stoppas i munnen 😉 Då passar det utmärkt att moster ville testa på att göra en bitring/skallra till honom. En drake skulle det vara enligt min syster men jag vet inte hur draklik den här skapelsen blev 😉 uppskattad blev den iaf och det är kul!

My nephew is now 4 months old and is starting to take interest in holding toys. Everything has to be put in the mouth also of course 😉 A perfect time for me to make him a teething ring/rattle. My sister wanted a dragon but I don’t know if this creature is so dragonlike 😀 They love it and that’s all that matters.

Garn: Scheepjes Catona färgnr 402, rester av vitt och svart till ögonen

Rektangel

Montering

Innan huvudet sys fast ska du göra 2 stygn genom hela nosen (se bild nedan) för att platta till den och få till en bättre form. På vänstra sidan, ta nålen underifrån och ut på ovansidan, gå en maska åt ena hållet och trä tillbaka nålen till undersidan. Dra åt så du ser att nosen blir platt, gör eventuellt om steget en gång till så det säkert håller. För ut nålen i ingångshålet och knyt en dubbelknut. Klipp av tråden och putta in knuten i huvudet. Upprepa på högra sidan.

Sy fast huvudet på bitringen, placera enligt bilden nedan. Fäst tråden ordentligt så den säkert håller för barnlek.

Dags att göra munnen. Trä in nålen underifrån, ungefär där huvudet sytts fast på bitringen. Ta ut nålen framme i nosen på draken, hoppa över ca 4 m och för sedan in nålen i huvudet igen. Gå tillbaka till där du tog ut nålen och sedan in i samma hål som tidigare vid sidan. För ut nålen i ingångshålet och dra till så du formar munnen. Knyt sedan dubbelknut och klipp av garnet. Knuten puttas in i huvudet.

Placera ögon, öron och näsborrar enligt bilderna nedan och sy fast dem. Fäst trådarna noga och klipp sedan av garnet.

Brodera till sist med svart i ögonen, antingen sovande eller vakna ögon, eventuellt gör du ögonbryn/ögonfransar med.

Systersonen älskar sin drake, det gör även små kompisar som kommer och hälsar på 😉 Hoppas din blir lika uppskattad.

Cut the yarn, leave a long end to sew the eyes on the head.

Rectangle
Crochet in rows. Leave a long end in the beginning and in the end. We use one end to close the rectangle around the ring and the other to attach the head to the ring.
1. Ch 32.
2. Begin in second ch from hook. 1 sc in each st, ch 1. Turn. (31)
3-9. 1 sc in each st, ch 1. Turn. (31)
Cut the yarn.

Assembly

You are going to do two stitches through the head, before the head is sewn in place (see picture below). The stitches are going to flatten the nose and create a better shape. To the left, put the needle in from the bottom and out on the top, go one stitch to left or right and put the needle back to the same hole in the bottom. Pull so you see the nose are being flat. Tie a knot, cut yarn and push the knot into the head. Repeat to the right.

Sew the head to the teething ring, place according to the picture below. Secure the ends.

Time to form the mouth. Put the needle from the bottom, appr where the head has been sewn to the rectangle, pull through and out at front of the nose. Skip 4 stitches and put the needle back in the head again. Go back to where the needle came out at the front and do it one more time. Now you have two threads as a mouth, take the needle back out at the same hole in the bottom. Pull so you shape the mouth. Tie a knot and cut the yarn. Push the knot in the head to hide it.

Place eyes, ears and nostrils according to the pictures below and sew them in place. Secure the ends and cut the yarn.

Use black to embroider the sleepy or awake eyes. If you want to you can make eyebrows and eyelashes too.
