Aziza Afterparty mandala
Yarn: Kartopu Organica, colors K245, K571, K576, K604 and K787
Hook size: 3 mm
Size: 21 cm
Abbreviations US
ch/chsp– chain/chain-space
slst – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
fpsc – front post single crochet
fpdc – front post double crochet
fptr – front post triple crochet
bpsc – back post single crochet
bpdc – back post double crochet
prev – previous
fpdc3tog – front post 3 double crochet together
dc3tog – 3 double crochet together in the same chain-space
dc4tog – 4 double crochet together across the next four stitches.
pop – popcorn; 5 dc in the same chain-space, remove loop from hook, place hook in the first dc, put back the loop on the hook, yarn over and pull through. Ch 1 to close the stitch (that ch 1 does not count as a stitch).
pic – ch 3, slst in first ch.
Good to know
- Total number of stitches can be found between (-) at the end of each round.
- I begin the rounds with standing stitches. You can replace them with chain stitches instead. Ch 1 = 1 sc, ch 2 = 1 hdc and so on.
- Instructions between *-* is repeated around, if nothing else is told.
- Instructions between (-) in a round, is made in the same st/chsp.
- The mandala might be a bit bubbly at the end, but it will be ok once blocked.
Pattern
(Light pink) Ch 6, slst in first ch to form a ring.
1. *dc3tog, ch 4*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst at top of first dc3tog. Cut the yarn. (6 dc3tog, 6 ch4-sp)
2. (Dark pink) Begin in any ch4-sp. *(dc3tog, ch 4, dc3tog) in chsp, 1 fpdc around dc3tog from prev round*, rep *-* around. End with a slst at top of first dc3tog. Cut the yarn. (12 dc3tog, 6 ch4-sp, 6 fpdc)
3. (Turqoise) Begin in any ch4-sp. *(dc3tog, ch 4, dc3tog) in chsp, 1 fpdc around dc3tog from prev round, 1 fpdc around fpdc from prev round, 1 fpdc around next dc3tog from prev round*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst at top of first dc3tog. Cut the yarn. (12 dc3tog, 6 ch4-sp, 18 fpdc)
4. (Navy) Begin in any ch4-sp. *(dc3tog, ch 3, dc3tog) in chsp, ch 4, fp3dc tog across the fpdc’s on prev round, ch 4*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst at top of first dc3tog. Cut the yarn. (12 dc3tog, 12 ch4-sp, 6 ch3-sp, 6 fpdc’s tog)

5. (Bluegrey) Begin in any ch3-sp. *3 sc in ch3-sp, 1 fpsc around dc3tog from prev round, 4 sc in ch4-sp, 1 fpsc around dc3tog from prev round, 4 sc in ch4-sp*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first sc. (66 sc, 18 fpsc)
6. 1 bpdc around each stitch. End with a slst in first stitch. (84 bpdc)
7. *dc4tog across next 4 stitches, ch 6*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst at top of first dc4tog. Cut the yarn. (21 dc4tog, 21 ch6-sp)
Rnd 1-7 Rnd 7
8. (Light pink) Begin in any ch6-sp. *(1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in chsp, sk to next chsp*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first stitch. Cut the yarn. (21 peaks)
9. (Dark pink) Begin in the first sc in any peak. *4 bpsc, pop in chsp, 4 bpsc*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first stitch. Cut the yarn. (21 pop, 168 bpsc)
Rnd 8 Rnd 9
10. (Turqoise) Begin in any pop. *fpsc in pop, ch 6, fptr around dc4tog on round 7, ch 6*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first stitch. (21 fpsc, 21 fptr, 42 ch6-sp)
11. (Navy) Begin in any fpsc. *1 fphdc, 3 dc in ch6-sp, fpdc in fptr, 3 dc in ch6-sp*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first stitch. (21 fphdc, 21 fpdc, 126 dc)
12. Slst to first dc, *3 sc, sk fpdc, 3 sc, sk fphdc*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first stitch. (126 sc)
Rnd 10 Rnd 12
13. 3 sc, *1 pic, 6 sc*, repeat *-* until you have 3 stitches left on the round, 3 sc. End with a slst in first st. (126 sc, 21 pic)
