Grape Hyacinth square
Yarn: Scheepjes Catona, colors are specified in the color chart below
Hook-size: 3 mm
Size square: appr. 15*15 cm
Extra: If you want to attach the square to a ring, I used a 22 cm ring from Virknålar och tillbehör
Good to know
- Instructions between *-* is repeated around or the number of times given.
- Instructions between (-) is made in the same st/chsp.
- Instructions between [-] is repeated a number of times within a round.
- First stitch in a round is made as a standing stitch or with ch as follow; ch1 = 1 sc, ch2 = 1 hdc, ch3 = 1 dc and so on.
- Do NOT skip the stitch behind the front post stitches unless you’re told to in that round.
Abbreviations US
ch – chain
chsp – chainspace
st- stitch
slst – slipstitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
BLO – back loops only
fpsc – front post single crochet
fpdc – front post double crochet
fptr – front post treble crochet
fpdc2tog – front post double crochet 2 together, one leg around each given stitch.
fptr2tog – front post treble crochet 2 together, one leg around each given stitch.
pop – 5 dc in the same st/chsp, remove loop from hook, insert hook in first dc, put loop back on hook and pull through, ch1 to close the stitch (ch1 does NOT count as a stitch).

Pattern
(A). Ch6, slst in first ch to make a ring.
1. Ch1, *1 sc, ch4*, repeat *-* 6 times. End with a slst in first sc.
(6 sc, 6 ch4-sp)
2. (B) *pop in chsp, ch2, skip sc*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in top of first pop.
(6 pop, 6 ch2-sp)
3. (A) *1 sc in chsp, ch5, skip pop*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first sc. (6 sc, 6 ch5-sp)
4. (C) *(pop, ch2, pop) in chsp, ch2, skip sc*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in top of first pop.
(12 pop, 12 ch2-sp)
5. (A) *1 sc in chsp, ch5, skip pop*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first sc. (12 sc, 12 ch5-sp)

14. Ch1, *(1 sc, ch2, 1 sc) in corner-chsp, 12 sc, 1 fpsc around fptr2tog, 2 sc, 1 fpsc around fptr2tog, 2 sc, 1 fpsc around fptr2tog, 12 sc*, repeat *-* aruond. End with a slst in first sc.
(30 sc, 3 fpsc / side)
If you want to attach the square to a ring (my ring was 22 cm across) crochet round 14 as below;
14. *1 sc in corner-chsp, ch1, hold the ring behind the square and crochet 1 sc in corner-chsp (this traps the ring inside the ch1-sp), 12 sc, 1 fpsc around fptr2tog, 2 sc, 1 fpsc around fptr2tog, 2 sc, 1 fpsc around fptr2tog, 12 sc*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first sc.
Cut the yarn and secure all your ends. I recommend that you block your square (not necessary if you attached it to a ring) to make the design justice.
