Yarn: Scheepjes Soft Fun Denim, 2 skeins color 504
Hook size: 4,5 mm

Abbreviations US

ch – chain
chsp – chainspace
st – stitch
slst – slipstitch
sc – single crochet
hoc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
prev – previous
dc2tog – crochet 2 dc’s together across next two stitches.
dc5tog – crochet 5 dc’s in the same stitch.
third loop – here is a video that shows how to locate and crochet in the third loop.

Good to know
  • The chains in the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch, do the first stitch of the round in the same space as the chains.
  • Each round ends with a slipstitch in the first stitch on the round (not in the chains).
  • Total number of stitches is at the end of each round between (-).
  • Repeat instructions between *-* around or the number of times specified.
  • When the round begins with dc5tog crochet like following; ch2, dc4tog in the same stitch.
Pattern

1. Ch85, join with a slst in first ch to form a ring. Make sure the chain isn’t twisted.
2. Ch2, 1 hdc in each ch around. End with a slst in first hdc. (85 hdc)
3-5. Ch2, 1 hoc in each st around. End with a slst in first hdc. (85 hdc)
6. Ch1, 1 sc in each st around. End with a slst in first sc. (85 sc)

7.  *dc5tog, ch1, sk 1 st*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first dc tog. (43 dc tog)
8. Slst to chsp on prev round. *dc5otg, ch1, skip to next chsp*, repeat *-* around. End with a slst in first dc tog. (43 dc tog)
9. Ch2, 1 hdc in each st and chsp around. End with a slst in first hdc. (85 hdc)
10. Ch2, 1 hdc in each st around. End with a slst in first hdc. (85 hoc)

11. Crochet in third loop. Ch2, 1 hdc in each st around. End with a slst in first hdc. (85 hdc in third loop)
12. Crochet in third loop. Ch2, 1 hdc in each st around. End with a slst in first hdc. (85 hdc in third loop)
13. Ch1, 1 sc in each st around. End with a slst in first sc. (85 sc)

14-15. Repeat rounds 7-8.
16-17. Repeat rounds 9-10.
18-19. Repeat rounds 11-12.

20. Ch1, 1 sc in each st around. End with a slst in first sc. (85 sc)
21-25. Ch3, 1 dc in each st around. End with a slst in first dc. (85 dc)

26. Ch3, *10 dc, dc2tog*, repeat *-* 7 times, 1 dc. End with a slst in first dc. (78 dc)
27. Ch3, *10 dc, dc2tog*, repeat *-* 6 times, 6 dc. End with a slst in first dc. (72 dc)
28. Ch3, *4 dc, dc2tog*, repeat *-* 12 times. End with a slst in first dc. (60 dc)
29. Ch3, *4 dc, dc2tog*, repeat *-* 10 times. End with a slst in first dc. (50 dc)

Cut yarn but leave a long end. Draw the long end through the final stitches and pull tight. Fasten securely.

Finish with one round of sc around the opening of the beanie. Secure the ends.

Fake Pompom

1-2. Take the rest of the yarn around your fingers. When you have about 40 cm left, cut it.
3. Fold the 40 cm in the middle and pull it through your middle fingers.
4. Pull tight and tie some knots.
5. Cut the ends open.
6. Trim if necessary.

Attach to the top of the beanie and secure the ends.
