Winter Stars fingerless mittens

Yarn: Kartopu Melange Wool Tweed, 100 g/170 m
Hook size: 6 mm

Abbreviations US

sc – single crochet
BLO – back loops only
dc – double crochet
ch – chain
st/sts – stitch/stitches

Good to know

Ch3 for beginning dc.
The mittens are crocheted in rounds. Each round is closed with a slst in first st of the round, if nothing else is told.
The pattern is easily adjusted to any yarn and hook-size. Chain the number of stitches that fits around your hand in multiple of 2+1.

Pattern

Ch29. Slst in first ch to make a ring (make sure the chain isn’t twisted).

1. Ch3, 1 dc in each ch around. End with a slst in 3rd ch of beginning 3.
2. In BLO. Ch1, 1 sc in each st around. End with a slst in first sc.
3. Starstitch round 1.
4.Starstitch round 2.
5. Ch1, continue with 1 sc in each st around. End with in a slst in first sc.
6. In BLO. Ch3, 1 dc in each st around. End with a slst in 3^rd ch of beginning 3.
7. Starstitch round 1.
8. Starstitch round 2.
9. Ch1, continue with 1 sc in each st around. End with a slst in first sc.
10. In BLO. Ch3, 1 dc in each st around. End with a slst in 3rd ch of beginning 3.
11-14. Repeat round 7-10.
15. 6 dc, ch6, skip 6 sts, 17 dc. End with a slst in 3^rd ch of beginning 3.
16. 1 dc in each dc and ch. End with a slst in 3^rd ch of beginning 3.
17. In BLO. 1 sc in each st around. End with a slst first sc.
18. 1 sc in each st around.End with a slst in first sc.
19. In BLO. 1 dc in each st around. End with a slst in 3^rd ch of beginning 3.
20. In BLO. 1 sc in each st around. End with a slst in first sc.

Cut yarn. Crochet one round of dc’s and one round of sc around the thumb. Cut yarn and secure ends. Now you can enjoy your new fingerless mittens.

Note – My multicolored mittens are made with Scheepjes Wanderlust and a 4 mm hook. I chained 39 and round 15 I did like this; 11 dc, ch7, skip 7 sts, 21 dc. I also changed the rounds above the thumb. Round 18; Starstitch round 1. Round 19; Starstitch round 2. Round 20; 1 sc in each st. Round 21; BLO 1 dc in each st. Round 22; BLO 1 sc in each st.
